How many rectangles are there in a 2 × 3 grid?

Solution

Number of rectangles = (2×3×(2+1)×(3+1))/4
= (2×3×3×4)/4
= 72/4 = 18 rectangles

A train travels 60 km in 1 hour. How far will it travel in 3 hours?

Solution

Distance = speed × time
= 60 × 3 = 180 km


Question 8

What time will it be 135 minutes after 3:15 PM?

Solution

135 minutes = 2 hours 15 minutes

3:15 PM + 2 hours = 5:15 PM

  • 15 minutes = 5:30 PM
